If you hadn’t heard by now, giant living sculptures are making their way to San Antonio. The Botanical Gardens will be welcoming the arrival of larger-than-life, whimsical sculptures from Imaginary Worlds.
A massive 25-foot-tall dragon will lay dormant over in the Lucile Halsell Conservatory, a magical mermaid will lounge around in the Hill Country, and a seven-foot-long peacock will elegantly parade about in the Rose Garden. A 10-foot-tall winged stallion by the name of Pegasus has been added for good measure.
Mosaïcultures
The larger-than-life exhibit has been created by the folks over at the International Mosaiculture of Montreal,
Mosaïcultures® is the horticultural art of creating giant topiary-like sculptures using thousands and annual bedding plants to carpet steel armature forms.
Each installation will have its own unique blend of plants depending on the look and the location in the garden, according to officials at the San Antonio Botanical Garden. The installations are made from stainless steel and covered in soil and sphagnum moss before being doused with thousands of different plants.
