Ready To Get Involved?

Well, we have now completed the first three months of this six month experiment.  This is half-way through my commitment to see if I could become more involved with our community AND to encourage others to get more involved.

How about you?

Are you ready to get more involved?

Here are just some ideas off the top of my head, but I am sure there are many more ideas floating around.  You may have an idea that no one else has thought about.

Meet Your Neighbor Series

One of my early ideas was the “Meet Your Neighbors” series that I felt would be a good way to learn about our neighbors.  Unfortunately, I feel I must slip that project to the back burner.

The last thing I want to do is annoy you.  After I received no responses to my email invitations.  I stopped sending out email invites after the first 30, so maybe I gave up too soon. But it felt like the community is not interested.

If I have misjudged and you are interested in participating, by all means just let me know.

Help Your Block Captain

One of the most important positions in our community are the Block Captains.  Another way you can get involved is to talk to Block Captain to see how you could help make your little area be a neighborhood star.

By helping out, you can learn more about those responsibilities and perhaps be willing to take on that position if a vacancy occurs.

Learn About the Design Review Committee

“The Design Review Committee is responsible to ensure the integrity of the community is maintained regarding the harmony of its exterior design, exterior materials, and quality of the workmanship.”

This committee is comprised of three members appointed by the HOA Board.  When a new member is needed, will you be knowledgeable and willing to fill such a position?  Will your interest in this are be known by the HOA Board?

Spend some time learning about the challenges this Committee faces.  Get to know the current members and let your interest be known.

Consider Running for HOA Board

The election of HOA Board members is scheduled for  the HOA General Meeting next March.  I am planning on writing a series of articles about the responsibilities of each positions.

You can talk with current or previous Board Members to get a good feel for what is required. Consider tossing your name in the hat for consideration.

We also need more neighbors to get involved — so we can all benefit.

Come Up With An Article for the Newsletter

In each newsletter, I try to include something of interest in the community – not just the Gardens, but also of the greater San Antonio area.

I would love to have your thoughts and ideas.  It is not necessary for you to write the whole article, but share with me what you find interesting and why.

I would love to have more voices in our newsletter.
