Caution !!!

Dear Neighbors:

This is Frances Menjivar and I live in the corner house as you exit The Gardens of Oak Hollow.  I want to share with you an incident that occurred at my house this past Thursday, January 6th between 8:00-9:00 A.M

Stranger in Garage

As I left for work, I backed out of my garage and took off before the garage door was completely down.  Unbeknownst to me, the door went back up as a plant had fallen over and was tripping the door sensor to open.

An hour or so later, I received a call from Gordon Burney asking if I had been back home.  His housekeeper had arrived and parked in front of my house.  She saw a dark colored SUV backed all the way into my garage.

Whoever was in the car, got out and hit the garage button to close the door, but it went back up.  Not sure if it was tried multiple times, but this caused the lights of the car to come on which attracted her attention.

During that time however, the housekeeper had gotten out of her car to get her cleaning supplies from the trunk.  The car was still there when she walked into Gordon’s house.  Gordon had some things in his car for her so they walked back out pretty quickly.

The housekeeper had no reason to believe that there was foul play as I have had lots of family and help with my aging mother at the house. When they got to his car, she noticed that the car in my garage was gone and my door was still open.  That’s when the housekeeper told Gordon what she had seen and he called me immediately.

Close Call

As far as I can tell, they did not enter the house and nothing appears to be missing from my garage.  This could have been a very stressful situation for me and I would hate for anyone else in the neighborhood to have to experience such an unpleasant situation.

I’m feeling very thankful but urge you to please take extra precautions around your home. Not a bad idea to lock the door between your garage and your home.

Be aware of any suspicious cars roaming our beautiful neighborhood looking for opportunities to cause harm or steal.
