Welcoming Gardens Entrance

The next time that you drive into our Community, take a moment to notice that the small area along Jones Maltsberger is neat and litter free.

Did you know that this is the result of our neighbors?

Trash Pick

According to the City of San Antonio, the homeowners are responsible to keep up the small strip of land next to Jones Maltsberger Road.

Many years back when this was identified, members of our Gardens began addressing the task of mowing and trash pick up.  This has resulting in a welcoming entrance to the Gardens of Oak Hollow.

Years back, Alice McKinney (Shadow Park South), is the worker bee who created an email list to invite groups of neighbors to take on Trash PickUp for a week.  Her efforts help to keep the entrance to our Gardens as welcoming as possible.

Who, Me?

This week the Trash PickUp email was in my mailbox.

In the spirit of ‘true confessions’ in the past eight years that I have lived in Gardens, I have had ‘good intentions’ when these emails arrived in the past.  But somehow, I always failed to find time to do my part.

“Let someone else do it” is not where I want to be.  But I recognized that is how I have been responding.

Stepping Up

So, I picked up a small trash bag and took a stroll.  At my first glance, the space looked clean.  However, as I strolled and found bits and pieces.  Not a lot, but as you know – little things build up.

Voluntary HOA

As I wrote in the very first Newsletter, when I was looking to purchase my home, I was VERY impressed with our voluntary HOA.  All of the neighbors worked together to keep up the Gardens.

So I want to roll up my sleeves and contribute where I can.
