Battle of Flowers Parade

By 1890, San Antonio, Texas, was a thriving trade center with population of 38,000. In 1891 a group of citizens decided to honor the heroes of the Alamo and Battle of San Jacinto with a Battle of Flowers.

The first parade had horse-drawn carriages, bicycles decorated with fresh flowers and floats carrying children dressed as flowers. The participants pelted each other with blossoms.

The Battle of Flowers Parade is the largest parade in Fiesta and second in size nationally only to the Tournament of Roses Parade.

Texas Cavalier River Parade

The theme for the 2023 Texas Cavaliers River Parade is FANTASTIC VOYAGES. Since the beginning of time, we have been exploring, discovering, and voyaging. From discovering new worlds here on Earth and in the depths of space, to reaching remarkable new frontiers in science and technology.

Created to give back to our community, the Texas Cavaliers developed the Charitable Foundation in 1989. Working directly with the Texas Cavaliers River Parade and King Antonio, the Foundation has been able to raise and donate over $8 million dollars since its inception.
