I saw this article in this morning’s paper and thought that it is worth sharing.
Ragweed allergy season is underway in the Alamo City, creating a vast number of tiny pollen grains during late summer and early fall.
Ragweed allergy is one of the most prevalent seasonal allergies, affecting millions of people worldwide. It is estimated that a single ragweed plant can produce as many as a billion pollen grains in a single season.
Due to the extremely dry conditions in the summer, the ragweed grew pretty tall around the city, which contributed to high pollen counts causing allergies to flare.
The combination of a hot summer and wind from the isolated rain storms last Sunday, the pollen count for ragweed has increased.
More To Come
According to Weather.com, thunderstorms should be rolling in for tomorrow and there is predicted “cold” front for the weekend. So the ragweed allergy may get worse for some people.
The article said if you are suffering from ragweed allergy it would helpful to stay indoors and keep the windows closed to try to prevent the pollen from coming inside the house. If you really want to tackle your allergies for good, the best thing to do is get an allergy test to confirm your allergy and start immunotherapy,
